#41 – Got Me Thinking

Just recently I saw a post on LinkedIn about a guy who was diagnosed with cancer and he just received one of the worst feedback a doctor can give you. It’s untreatable and he has approximately one year to live. He is married and has two kids. A 5-month-old son and a 7-year-old son.

As a freshly baked father myself, I immediately had tears in my eyes while reading it

How heartbroken must his wife be? How heartbroken must he be, thinking about not seeing his kids grow up?

It got me thinking about myself. My relationships. My family. My friends. My daughter.

If you know you only have 12 months to live. How would you spend the rest of your life?

How would you treat your loved ones?

Would you get angry for every little thing? Would you waste time watching TV instead of spending it with your family?

I guess not.

And while thinking about those questions – another one popped up in my mind.

Who guarantees you how long you have to live?

Who says you have more than 12 months to live?

By acknowledging your own death, which for sure will come. You start to see things from a different perspective.

If you don’t know how much time on earth you got left, why get angry with your loved ones? Why waste hours of hours watching TV or gaming or scrolling down news feeds like a zombie?

Call your loved ones today, meet them and tell them, or at least make them feel you love them and they are important to you.

You may not have as much time as you wish. So use it.
